Our Clover Road vineyard is 15 km away from the coast, and sits alongside the Wairoa River. The soil is very stony and free-draining with low water holding capacity. The large stones are vital for holding the warmth of the Nelson sun and for ripening the grapes. Lively fruit characters are evident in fruit harvested from this block.

Parcels of Malbec were picked incrementally in March 2025 at peak of flavour and phenolic ripeness. Drained juice was settled, warmed and inoculated for a clean, crisp, fermentation to retain the lovely fruit characters. The wine had a brief period on yeast lees to build palate weight and texture, before being stabilised and bottled in June 2025.
