Our Brightwater vineyard is exceptionally stony with free-draining soils, which is very hard on farm equipment. The large stones, however, are vital for holding the warmth of the Nelson sun and for ripening the grapes. Lively fruit characters are evident in fruit harvested from this block.

The fruit in our 2023 Seifried Nelson Rosé comes from our Brightwater vineyard. Parcels of Malbec were picked incrementally in March 2023 at peak of flavour and phenolic ripeness. Drained juice was settled, warmed and inoculated for a clean, crisp fermentation to retain lovely fruit characters. The wine had a brief period on yeast lees before being stabilised and bottled in July 2023.
